This tool from the Center on Standards Assessment and Implementation provides suggestions and questions for state and local education agencies seeking to align assessment systems with the principles of the Testing Action Plan.  The questions help guide actions to assess and modify assessment systems.  The resource can be modified to meet the different needs of state and local contexts and lists proposed questions/data collection strategies along with the Testing Action Plan principle to which each is aligned.

State interest in tracking the readiness of children entering kindergarten is growing. This resource from the Center on Enhancing Early Learning Outcomes is a national scan on the assessment tools that are are currently used in states to assess the development of children at kindergarten entry.  The information included in this state scan may be useful to other states that are in the process of developing or revising their kindergarten entry assessments.

The resource addesses two essential processes: (1) determining the series of changes that occur in student thinking or ability (i.e., "Building Blocks") that lead from the previous grade's learning to achievement of the current grade's standards, and (2) determining the associated Learning Goals and Success Criteria for Building Blocks.
