College and Career Readiness and Success: An Overview of GIS

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a tool that allows users to understand how different sets of data overlap to form a more nuanced understanding of the local context. The College and Career Readiness and Success Center Center uses GIS to overlay social vulnerability, K-12, postsecondary, labor, and economic data to promote college and career readiness opportunities for all students. In the states that we are working with, state leaders are using GIS to develop policies and strategies that reflect contextual differences and address the inequities in opportunity.

This webinar will provide an overview of GIS, explore how different states are using GIS to inform specific state and local policies and supports, and support webinar participants in developing their own GIS questions for exploration.
